In the 60’s, there was much concern about the use of film projectors in the classroom. Some found it threatening: others found it innovative and creative.
I remember a presentation, while in Harvard’s Agent of Change Program, addressing:
“Movie Projectors: Problem vs. Opportunity”
A big concern was voiced by strong Union reps, that it would ultimately result in lost teaching positions.
At one time Dean, Dr. Ted Sizer intervened,

“There should be no doubt that the machine(s) bring versatility to the classroom, in time, space and material, but behind the machines are TEACHERS. Any person, who can be replaced by a machine, ought to be! We should focus on the things that the machines can help improve the quality of instruction.”
